The Nuclear Futures Institute at Bangor University was established in late 2017 to accelerate advances in nuclear research, training and technologies for the North Wales region. Horizon Nuclear Power is working to develop a new generation of nuclear power stations at Wylfa on Anglesey and Oldbury in Gloucestershire. Together, both projects would produce 5,800MW for the UK – enough to power around 11 million homes.
