North West Nuclear Arc (NWNA) created a document which summarises some of the job opportunities and the economic boost that could come from new nuclear Investment across the Arc geography.
It includes reference to Wylfa Newydd and a small modular reactor and isotope producing reactor at Trawsfynydd as well as a possible new development at Moorside in Cumbria. It also talks about linked developments at Springfields in Lancashire and at Urenco’s Capenhurst facility in Cheshire. It refers to opportunities in research and development at Bangor University, the Menai Science Park (M-SPARC) on Anglesey and AMRI-Cymru on Deeside. As you are aware, new developments would also boost the supply chain across Wales.
The WNF, courtesy of Steering Group Member, John Idris-Jones, has sent this document to MP’s in North Wales and Ken Skates and have asked them to impress on the UK Government to facilitate the development of new nuclear at Wylfa Newydd and at Trawsfynydd and emphasised that at this difficult time, these developments offer an opportunity to mitigate some of the longer term impacts on the wider economy including on our manufacturing sector in North East Wales
The document below has also been sent to the Chair of the North Wales Economic Ambitions Board and to the CEO’s of the 5 LEP’s in the North West of England as well as MP’s in the North West of England.
