Peter Cornish has been re-elected as Chairman of Wales Nuclear Forum by WNF’s Steering Group.
Peter was re-elected as Chairman after he gained the votes of all members of the Steering Group during last week’s meeting and will lead the forum for the next 24 months.
Peter’s career background is heavy in complex engineering manufacturing. He joined the Acorn Group as Director of Business Development for Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Energy Projects in the UK in 2005, strengthening Acorn’s construction, technical and engineering team.
Peter has a background in complex engineering manufacturing and is a well-respected professional in the South Wales engineering sector. Peter has previously worked as a Contracts Manager in the Construction, Technical and Engineering Division. Previous to Acorn, Peter held the position as Strategic Business Development Executive with a number of UK leading engineering energy manufacturing companies, where he was responsible for growing the commercial business across all energy sectors. His career started in the paper and plastics industry, prior to moving through the ranks of middle and senior management. He also holds an MBA qualification.
It is this expertise and commitment to the energy and engineering sector that makes the Steering Group believe that Peter is the right person to lead the forum in the right direction. The forum has already grown and developed a great deal since it was established in 2017, and now has over 200 members.
Through Wales Nuclear Forum, Peter will continue to encourage increased engagement and collaboration between members to create and win key sales opportunities. Peter also plays a pivotal role in ensuring WNF works closely with the Welsh and UK Government to keep up to date on local and national industry plans.
As a significant leader within the business development energy community and Chair of the forum, Peter will continue to prioritise inspiring innovation and supporting the growth of businesses within the nuclear energy sector.
In addition to the re-election of WNF’s chair position, the Steering Group discussed how the Wales Nuclear Forum will be moving forward and there are some exciting developments that will be happening within WNF.
